My week

Despite the fact all my uni deadlines are coming up fast, I've been out twice this week. Unfortunately I didn't get an OOTN done for either night, sorry guys, but I was running late on both evenings! Instead I have a little week in pictures thingy-ma-bob. Well, I haven't done one in a while

♦ Strawberry lace cocktail with Nat & Rachel ♦ Laura & I ♦ Snarling ♦ Sophie & I ♦ Cartoon nails ♦ Natalie & I ♦ I was red ♦

These days, I don't go out as much as I used to and well, it makes me feel like a bit of a Grandma.  That's why this week has been a welcome break from the worry of deadlines. Wednesday was my gal pal Vikki's birthday, so we came out for surprise drinks and had a splendid time. Had to be in uni the next day but we're hardcore like that, obviously.
Saturday night started off great but the remainder of the evening could have gone smoother - the taxi could have turned up on time and the second club could have been less dead and less infested with under-agers, but never mind. Luckily I was in good company, which made the night. The important thing is I broke in my new lace top and my Missguided lime skater skirt, which you can see and purchase here

As you can see, I've been suffering for my best buddy's art yet again. I must confess I'm a fan of the wig, but that red paint is a bitch to get off, trust. I'm sure Alex will display the wonderful pictures on her blog at some point and you can check that out here

Do you like my cartoon nails? I was inspired by Cutepolish's recent tutorial, I think she's amazing. However I'm kind of hoping you don't watch the video, as her work makes my attempt look like crap. In my defence  they got a little messed up after a weekend of cafe work. Give them ago, they're super easy!

So that's my week. I'm off to get a cup of tea and go ham on my stupid assignment.
Not long now, Alice. Not long now...

I'm listening to ...Nina Nesbitt

A lot of you may know Nina Nesbitt, aka singer/songwriter of Stay Out and Ed Sheeran's latest gal pal. And I'm girl crushing hard.

A while back, I heard Boy while browsing Youtube and presently shoved it straight on my iPod - and I'm ashamed to say I kind of forgot about it. Recently I heard a familiar sweet voice on the chart show - and there was wee Nina was her latest hit Stay Out. Needless to say, my love affair with Miss Nesbitt was well and truly rekindled.

18 year old Scottish Nina has already supported both Ed Sheeran and Example and is now making her own waves in the music scene, so far reaching an impressive 21 on the official chart with Stay Out. What I find shocking is that her 2012 debut single Boy only reached 139 on the chart, I mean what?! This song is amazing, the lyrics are deep and sparkling with emotion and of course her beautiful voice is totally addictive. Seriously, I've had this song on repeat so much I'm surprised I haven't broken it. Check it.

I love Nina's style in Stay Out, it's right up my street. Also got some serious hair envy. But yeah, the music. Still acoustic  folky and upbeat, it's literally just the perfect getting ready, chilling out tune and I love the fact that she gets ID'd in the vid. Some verisimilitude, I like it!

She tackles the issues that most of us girls go through, but she spins them into insightful and enchanting songs with innocently ethereal vocals. Plus, she's a total style icon. Definitely one to watch, and perfect music for Summer. You will love.

You'll enjoy if you like

A little bit of retail therapy...

University is starting to take it's toll on my feeble body and mind. To keep me sane, I've been indulging in a spot of retail therapy. It's not really a haul, I don't have the money for those, but it's a small collection of pretty things I could not resist. Check it.

I had a cheeky little potter round Primark when I should have been in the uni library. White is my favourite colour to wear (next to black) because it's so pretty and versatile. I am also a sucker for crops, I have this thing about midriff, you see. I felt it was time to get myself a new hairband and how amazing is this one? I love the mix of sweet and punky, totally my style. Can't wait to wear this.

I'm addicted to Revlon' s lip butters, so I was excited when I saw Boots had a 3 for two offer. I picked up Strawberry Shortcake, Sweet Tart and Tutti Fruity. How cute are the names? These shades are a light rosey pink, a poppier bright pink and orange-hued reddy colour.

I'm really annoyed that I've had to neglect my blog recently, all my uni deadlines are coming up at once and I'm working flat out. But I just completed a particularly scary project, so things are looking up!
Because of uni, my social life has gone kaput so I'm really looking forward to a night out next Saturday. Hopefully I have a nice lil' outfit post for you guys. I'll be blogging a lot more when this semester is done!

So, what do you think of my purchases?

So.. this is Spring?

If you recognise this outfit, it's because it's from the same day I took the picture for my lip butter review. As you can see in these pics, the horrible snow returned, but thank goodness it has now melted and the sun seems to be putting in an appearance. It's still by no means warm, but it's a start to Spring I guess.

University, eh. Who'd in their right mind would go? Even when I'm supposed to be chilling on my Easter holiday, I'm constantly thinking about it! I'll be honest, this holiday hasn't really been the best, for many different reasons. Here's hoping for better times from now own.

However one very lovely thing during the break was that I visited my friend Jordan in London for a few days and had a blast. We went to art galleries and did a spot of shopping, in addition to some rather experimental cooking. Back to the reality of the Midlands now, boo.

Hope you've had a great Easter

Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter - Reviewed.

I have a confession. Red lippie and I don't really get along. Yes, I am a pathetic excuse for a girl. The truth is, I wish I could wear it but instead of feeling like Marilyn Monroe I just feel like The Joker. My lipsticks of choice tend to be very pale pinks and nudes, but this time I decided to try something a little different. Cue Wild Watermelon; a shimmery coral shade with hues of both pink and red.

The Good

This is literally the most comfortable lipstick I've ever worn. Jack scoffed at the name lip 'butter'; sure it was just a marketing tactic, erroneously claiming to be more nourishing then your average lippie. He was wrong, it feels amazing from the first slick. I tend to be stingy with lipsticks and pick the cheapest brand (I know, I'm a bad beauty blogger!) It is always a mistake as they cause my lips to flake and the colours disappears within an hour. This lip butter truly feels like you've smoothed on Vaseline - so soft and kissable, with no signs of flaking. This is very good for someone who has notoriously easily chapped lips.

The packaging is totally cute, I love the diamond patterned lid and the case is chic and shiny. Such pretty little thing to have in your make-up bag! I was amazed by the choice of colours available too, a total of 21 shades.

The Bad

Honestly, I don't really have anything bad to say about this lip butter. At £7.99, it's not the most student friendly price but it's worth ten cheaper lipsticks, I promise you. Obviously, you need reapply after eating and drinking, but it lasts a couple of hours on it's own, so keep it in your bag for touch-ups. I shall definitely be picking some more shades up soon.

The Bottom Line

Get this, just get it. Super soft feeling, brilliant choice of colours. An essential for every girl.
