Didn't you wear that last weekend?

I have a confession. This week I came very close to committing the worst fashion blogger crime ever. I almost rewore an outfit. In fact, I'm kind of ashamed I didn't.

Birthday suit                                                     Alternate outfit - and  awkward fist

Okay, here's my defence before you condemn me. Two Saturdays ago, I went for a night out with my friends. I'd spent all day planning the perfect outfit - a white lace crop and a lime green metallic skater skirt, complete with lace socks and wedges. Without tooting my own horn, it looked amazing. (Toot).

The night started off great, but it kind of dwindled into one of those 'non-nights' as soon as we left the first club. The second was only half open (apparently the downstairs toilet had flooded - ew) and it was absolutely dead apart from a handful overly overenthusiastic dancers who I'm sure were under-age.  Needless to say, we left pretty quickly. The third and final club was busier, but stuffed full of sausage ... where were all the women!? We called our taxi an hour earlier than planned.

The company was awesome, but the vibe was kind of off that night. Seriously, what happened to Saturday nights? I couldn't help but feel I'd wasted a seriously cute outfit on a evening that hadn't gone quite to plan. Two weeks later, my birthday rolled around. Now, I have a vast collection of clothes so I wasn't short of options, but I just couldn't get that ensemble out of my head. It was the ideal birthday look. I was certainly in a pickle.

I bowed to the pressure and picked out a new outfit. I was happy with it, but I wondered why I felt I'd had to find something new to wear. I can't really place the reason why I didn't want to crack out my super outfit again - was it because there was pictorial evidence of me wearing it a fortnight before? Did I think people were going to assume they were my only garments? I actually have no idea. But something told me I couldn't wear it again until at least a months time.

There is such a taboo around the re-wearing of an outfit, especially amongst bloggers. I've read so many  girls and guys posts where they feel they have to apologise for wearing the same item of clothing more than once. Isn't the point of being fashion bloggers creating different outfits out of what we have? And if, like me, you carefully picked out a look that you were really proud of, why should it be sentenced to never be worn again?

I asked others what they thought and the responses were pretty one-sided. However one blogger, @LA_Kes, wisely tweeted; 'I'd say don't worry about it and do what your heart says on the day. You're too young for fashion wrinkles!' Well said.

Do you feel weird re-wearing outfits? And what's your reasoning behind it?
 Later guys ..

Happy Birthday to me! ♥

I am no longer a teenager! Yep, on the ninth of May little old me got less little and a bit older. How do I feel you ask? Not much different to be honest, I don't feel any more of an adult anyway. Which is just as well as we spent our Friday night acting anything but grown-up!

I really don't wear this skirt enough, in fact I kind of forget I had it. I unearthed it in a mad rush as I was getting ready and teamed it with this zebra crop. I love these boots; the heels aren't too high so I'm able to dance all night minus the drunken humiliation of wandering round the club barefoot, heels in hand. I had a brilliant night out, totally made me forget that I'm on the slippery slope of aging. Twenty years old, halfway to forty and still can get away with child fare on the bus!

♦ Bonus OOTN! ♦
Here's what my sister Rose rocked for the evening. How cute are the net socks! She borrowed my Sack Sale jacket as a cover-up and I think it looks great with the deep purple dress. She looks amazing, don't you think?

My week

Despite the fact all my uni deadlines are coming up fast, I've been out twice this week. Unfortunately I didn't get an OOTN done for either night, sorry guys, but I was running late on both evenings! Instead I have a little week in pictures thingy-ma-bob. Well, I haven't done one in a while

♦ Strawberry lace cocktail with Nat & Rachel ♦ Laura & I ♦ Snarling ♦ Sophie & I ♦ Cartoon nails ♦ Natalie & I ♦ I was red ♦

These days, I don't go out as much as I used to and well, it makes me feel like a bit of a Grandma.  That's why this week has been a welcome break from the worry of deadlines. Wednesday was my gal pal Vikki's birthday, so we came out for surprise drinks and had a splendid time. Had to be in uni the next day but we're hardcore like that, obviously.
Saturday night started off great but the remainder of the evening could have gone smoother - the taxi could have turned up on time and the second club could have been less dead and less infested with under-agers, but never mind. Luckily I was in good company, which made the night. The important thing is I broke in my new lace top and my Missguided lime skater skirt, which you can see and purchase here

As you can see, I've been suffering for my best buddy's art yet again. I must confess I'm a fan of the wig, but that red paint is a bitch to get off, trust. I'm sure Alex will display the wonderful pictures on her blog at some point and you can check that out here

Do you like my cartoon nails? I was inspired by Cutepolish's recent tutorial, I think she's amazing. However I'm kind of hoping you don't watch the video, as her work makes my attempt look like crap. In my defence  they got a little messed up after a weekend of cafe work. Give them ago, they're super easy!

So that's my week. I'm off to get a cup of tea and go ham on my stupid assignment.
Not long now, Alice. Not long now...

Where there's music & there's people & they're young & alive

First night out of 2013 - Laura's 20th!

Sorry for the grainy pics, they were taken on my friend's iPod just before we went out so we were in quite a rush. Here I am in the lushest Premier Inn room I've ever stopped in. Okay I don't have a wide experience of bed and breakfasts, but trust, Lenny Henry wasn't lying to us.

Anyways, what on earth am I talking 'bout? Enough about the room. More about the night.

Jacket - Sack Sale Top - River Island Skirt - H&M Shoes - Irregular Choice
Socks - Topshop Bodychain - Miss Selfridge

Blurry, sorry
It was a great night - we started off in Brindley Place, drinking wine and mixers in bars and headed up the Broad Street, ready to party. I finally got to Gatecrasher - and it lived up to my expectations. All in all, we had a smashing time and I slept like a baby that night. Unfortunately, the hangover kicked in about two o'clock the next afternoon. I felt like death. So weird, as I didn't feel that drunk at all on the night. Don't you hate how that happens.

Here's all of us having a gay ol' time

Happy Birthday Laura!

Saturday, 1 December 2012

So that was November ...

... and in comes December, which means that Christmas is on its way! But first comes deadline week, beginning on the 10th. Two weeks. Oh my. As if that wasn't enough, I'm suffering from a terrible plague, or at least it feels like that. It's awful being a uni student when you're ill, as you know you have to come in and do the work, despite how rubbish you feel.

To cheer me up, I've decided to do a 'month in pictures' sorta post. It's my first one, so I hope it's okay.

♦ Hard at work ♦ Jack's sparkler ♦ Huge cocktail with strawberry laces ♦ Munching said lace ♦ What's up, doc? ♦ Nurse Jack bought me lemsips & cookies ♦ Booging at Soph's bday ♦ Yummy meal ♦ Time to put the fire on!

I'd be lying if I said it had been a great month. Of course, it was lovely Jack turning 20 and my sister 21, but most things seem to have gone hideously wrong. For example, whilst filming a documentary for uni, we had a malfunction with the camera and it ended up with no sound. Pretty stressful having to do it all again.

I haven't had a night out in what seems like forever, so I really looked forward to Sophie's birthday night at Babylon. Unfortunately the weather was crazy wet, and my big hair sank into a soggy depression. Boo. Somehow managed to get up for work at 8.30 the next day.

I've also helped Alex out for her photography, by dressing as lab doctor. Creepy, no? The project is all about animal cruelty - she's sure to blog about it at some point so it's well worth a look here

Oh yes, it's myself and Jack's Two Year Anniversary today
I remember it was a beautiful snowy day two years back... now all we have is cold winds and grey skies.
Not quite so romantic, but that doesn't really matter to me :3

Well this is what November has pretty much consisted of, it's been a (kinda) fun month but now on to the next one...

Freshers '12 - freshers for a non fresher ☺

This time last year, I was attending Freshers '11, and now, I am ermm, attending it again, as a big grown up 2nd year, go me. I must be getting old as I didn't go out nearly as much as I did last year. I guess that's because it was my freshers', and I'd only recently turned 18 at the time, so it was all quite exciting and new.

Sunday - Walkabout

Top - Charity shop
Skirt - River Island
Belt - Borrowed from my sister
Shoes - Irregular Choice
Earrings - Claire's
Bracelets - gifts

So this was the start of Freshers week. Sunday seems a weird day to go out, I don't remember it last year, but to be honest, I don't remember much from last years' Freshers .. oops ;D
When I bought this skirt in the River Island sale, it was out of stock in my size so I got one up, hoping that it would fit alright. But it was much too big, the skirt reached my knees, not the look I was going for. Luckily, it was pretty easy to alter, and I think it's the perfect length now, don't you?
Alex and I were going to meet our friend Soph and her roommates but by the time they headed out the queue was huge, so they went to Indi instead, so it was just us two partying on our own. However, we met people from our classes in there and made friends with the freshers, so we weren't strictly on our own. Good start to the week.

Thursday - Civic

Bralet - Forever 21
Skirt - H&M
Wedges - Hypnotic
Belt - Borrowed from my sister
Bracelet - Charity shop
Necklace - a gift

This night included a popcorn machine, bouncy castle, surf simulator, gladiator arena, sumo suit wrestling and some plonker from Geordie Shore. I did not take advantage of any of this 'attractions', but it was quite fun to watch others making fools of themselves :')
For this night, I had a power team of Alex, Aaron, Jack and a last minute appearance from Vikki.
Oh yeah, and this is what I wore. Apologies that the first pic is a bit blurry and you can see my PJs and Jack's shorts.

So there you have it, I haven't got much to show you I'm afraid, I've been a boring old fart and only gone out twice this week. Have any of you guys been going out this week for Freshers?
Enjoy your time at uni Freshers! Second and third years, welcome back ;D

I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear..

Sophie, Laura, Me, Alex
Buffday girl and her man ;)

Briiiiiight light

Posin' hell.
As I haven't been able to do a post for a while, thought I'd treat you guys to some pics of my friend Vikki's birthday outing ;D We got the coach to Couture and it was an awesome night. I know the pictures aren't very clear, but it's an outfit post of sorts :3 I thought my friend Laura looked amazingly different in a long sheer skirt, what do you lovelies think? (:

Not obvious, but I wore my 'I'm laddered' tights, which, incidentally, are now totally laddered. And ripped. Boo. Oh, and also showcasing my new red lipstick, I had one before, but it's all squished and empty, so I was in dire need of a new one.
What do you think of our outfits and have you guys been out recently: :)
